The Moth Award is given each year at The Moth Ball in New York City to honor the world’s greatest raconteurs. This year’s recipient, Zadie Smith, accepted The Moth Award and reflected on how her own relationship to storytelling has changed over the course of her life. Storytellers, we’re making our way north! We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be starting a new StorySLAM series in Vermont. The Moth StorySLAM is where everyday folks tell their stories. Heroes and hooligans, grandpas and undergrads, teachers, truck drivers, doctors or dog walkers… the people of Vermont! The Vermont Moth StorySLAM will launch on Tuesday, March 18th at The Skinny Pancake and will continue throughout the season with support from VPR. The theme will be FIRSTS.

This past Monday, we held our first ever High School Grand Slam, featuring ten high school students from around New York City. George Dawes Green, our founder, reflects on the night.
