Partner with the Global Community Program

The Moth’s Global Program partners with foundations and organizations who work directly with advocates making efforts to further their respective causes and drive change.

Current and past partners include the Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, Beyond Type 1, UN Women, United States Institute of Peace, Aspen New Voices Fellows, among others.

Below are some examples of what the Global Program is able to offer our partners:

What We Offer

Storytelling Workshops

  • Introduction to Personal Storytelling - Virtual Workshop

    • This three-hour virtual workshop will give up to 40 participants a basic foundation in personal storytelling principles and practice. Moth Instructors will lead participants through the key principles of Moth storytelling. Participants will then break out into smaller groups with one Moth Instructor per group, and begin crafting a 3-minute personal narrative through active group discussion, using selected story drafts to provide clear illustration of storytelling tenets.

  • Cornerstone Storytelling Workshops

    • These three-day intensive workshops will provide a deep dive into personal storytelling principles and practice for up to 24 participants. Guided by Moth instructors, participants will shape a life event into an engaging story. Through a combination of large and small group work, each participant will learn and implement Moth Storytelling techniques - and then present their five minute story-in-progress to workshop cohorts in a Final Share, with Moth instructors providing in-depth feedback. The workshop will conclude with a session called “Storytelling for Advocacy,” where participants will consider ways in which their personal story can be adapted and used to enact change in their communities. Stories are recorded and sent back to participants along with a transcript, after the final session.

After producing a storytelling workshop with The Moth, you become eligible for additional offerings such as those below. Producing one of the above workshops is a required first step in a partnership with us.

Private Events / Mainstages

Moth Private Events, or Mainstages are storytelling performances in front of a live audience. These feature three to five storytellers who have graduated from the above workshops completed with your partnership. Storytellers shape their stories with our directors, each one centered around an advocacy-focused theme. These Mainstages are often produced as complementary events, part of, or connected to a larger conference or convening.

Storyteller Placements

At convenings or conferences coordinated by a partner, The Moth directors work one-on-one with a handpicked storyteller to then share their personal story within the event’s programming. In the past, partners of The Moth have welcomed storytellers as introductory speakers before, or inserted into conference presentation, or as a panelist on a discussion panel.
