As people all over the world take to the streets to demand justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, we are reminded of the words of Frederick Douglas: “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” This week’s playlist, with stories from people from all walks of life, celebrates fighting for what’s right, speaking up and speaking out, and challenging the societal and cultural constraints that can hold us back. Here’s to fighting the power.

This week’s news cycle, with the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the incident with Christian Cooper in Central Park, is further proof that our country has a painfully long way to go when it comes to issues of race, entitlement and privilege. We believe that telling stories, and listening to others share theirs, fosters empathy and puts us all on a path to deeper understanding and compassion. We hope that this week’s playlist gives everyone a moment to reflect.
