The Moth Pop Up Porch: Fall 2022 Tour Recap

About The Moth Pop Up Porch

Inspired by The Moth's origin—stories shared on warm nights as moths flocked towards the porch light and the stories—The Pop Up Porch is a tiny custom-built home fitted with a tiny porch designed for sharing and listening to stories. On the "porch," over 5,000 people gathered to learn about The Moth, listen to stories from our archive, and participate in 1-on-1 story coaching sessions. In these sessions, members of The Moth's staff, including directors, producers, and instructors, used Moth-style storytelling techniques to help each person expand their experiences into stories.

The Moth Pop Up Porch: Tulsa

“Coming to the Pop Up Porch was just really spectacular. And I say that because as someone who has a story, sometimes you don’t know the impact of it until you share it. Being able to come here and work with these leaders was really powerful.” - Pop Up Porch visitor
The Moth Pop Up Porch: Dallas

Some of the best stories were recorded on-site and added to The Moth's story pitch archive. The Moth's artistic team will listen to each recording and consider developing them into full-length stories for future Moth events.

The Moth Pop Up Porch: Dallas
"Sharing that story and the connection you build with the crowd is really powerful. I don't think I'll ever forget it." - Pop Up Porch Visitor and StorySLAM Teller
The Moth Pop Up Porch: New Orleans

The Pop Up Porch allowed people to experience The Moth's mission in real-time by listening to stories and working with The Moth's team to craft their own stories for future sharing—at the dinner table, at work, on a date, or a Moth stage.

The Moth Pop Up Porch: Birmingham

"The Moth is the only public radio show that genuinely connects with folks from all walks of life." - Pop Up Porch Visitor
The Moth Pop Up Porch: Atlanta
