Thanks so much for your interest in The Moth Ball. This year’s Ball, A Wrinkle In Space and Time, will be held on Tuesday, June 4 from 6:30 - 11:00 PM at Capitale in New York City (130 Bowery). This special evening will include a cocktail party, an elegant seated dinner, a silent auction, and our signature Moth Ball storytelling show featuring the annual Moth Award presentation to Roxane Gay, followed by dessert and dancing.

The Moth Ball is our annual spring gala and largest fundraising event of the year. Proceeds from the event support:

  • Live Moth storytelling shows (600+ from New York to Nairobi)
  • The Moth Radio Hour, airing on 485+ public radio stations across the country
  • Our free weekly podcast downloaded by millions each week 
  • The Moth's Community and Education programs, which extend storytelling instruction and performance opportunities to thousands of New York City high school students, educators around the world, and individuals often misrepresented or underrepresented by the mainstream media, such as those involved in the criminal justice system.

Tables of 10 start at $10,000 ($8,000 tax-deductible); single tickets start at $500 ($300 tax-deductible).

Roxane Gay’s writing appears in Best American Mystery Stories 2014, Best American Short Stories 2012, Best Sex Writing 2012, Harper’s Bazaar, A Public Space, McSweeney’s, Tin House, Oxford American, American Short Fiction, Virginia Quarterly Review, and many others. She is a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. She is the author of the books Ayiti, An Untamed State, the New York Times bestselling Bad Feminist, the nationally bestselling Difficult Women and New York Times bestselling Hunger: A Memoir of My Body. She is also the author of World of Wakanda for Marvel and the editor of Best American Short Stories 2018.
