Simon Bill

Simon Bill is an artist and writer. His novel ‘Artist in Residence’, about a failing and drunken painter who discovers a kind of success as artist in residence at a neurology clinic, was published in May 2016 by Sort of Books. As an artist, his most recent solo exhibition, at BALTIC center for contemporary art, featured his characteristic oval paintings, identical in size and shape but otherwise wildly diverse in style, subject matter and medium (Bill’s materials have included dried maize, bathroom sealant, Champagne corks, fake gems and dental floss). His many interests include European swords and the neuropsychology of visual perception. In November 2016 Bill becomes Gulbenkian Fellow at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia, Lisbon.
