Cathy Olkin is a planetary scientist at Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Her main topic of research is the outer solar system, specifically planetary atmospheres and surfaces. As a Deputy Project Scientist for NASA’s New Horizons mission to Pluto, Cathy has been wonderfully busy soaking in all the new information about her favorite planet. After more than nine years and three billion miles, the New Horizons spacecraft made it to Pluto and took the first ever close-up pictures of Pluto and its moons.
