Moth Summer Interns: Announcing the Alumni Podcast!

by Quyn Israel, Mmachi Dimoriaku, Brie Mann-Hernandez, Jamila Jahangir, and Dan Dobro

In Summer 2017, Moth EDU Brought on us five interns to help produce the High School GrandSLAM, assist with running the first ever Moth Teacher Institute, and create something new that would be a lasting asset to The Moth’s education program through its alumni.

After some brainstorming, we decided to document an oral history of New York City, by reaching out into our neighborhoods to those storytellers whose stories might not have been heard live on the Moth stage. Although our time at The Moth this summer has only been a short two weeks, we managed to go and collect local stories and (with the help of The Moth staff) produce this podcast. And while this group of stories might be a drop in the bucket of history, the hope that we imagine is the eventual creation of an archive of stories, contributed to not just by the next interns but any Moth alumni interested in participating.

If you are a Moth alum and want to get involved, contact education@themoth.org.

Special thanks to Catherine McCarthy, Micaela Blei, Ilham Awad, and Timothy Lou Ly.

We’ve had an amazing time working together as a group and with the rest of The Moth staff, and hope you hear from us again soon.

All best!
