PRODUCTION OVERVIEW:

The Moth’s Production Department oversees our StorySLAM program, produces our NYC StorySLAM series, as well as our Mainstage series across the United States (and a few internationally). The team works closely with the Artistic, Marketing, Development, and Finance departments to bring our live events to life.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Moth’s Production team is hiring two interns for a six month period, beginning Monday, February 10th. We are looking for applicants with a strong work ethic, a desire to learn new skills, and a passion for stories and community building through storytelling.

Applicants must be able to minimally commit to a six-month session. Internships are 32 hours per week, 4 days a week, and take place at our New York City headquarters during office hours. The Moth is currently operating on a hybrid schedule, remote and in-office (Mon-Fri, 10AM-6PM) with the expectation of event assistance in the evening.

The Moth provides an hourly rate of $16/hour and a $20/month transportation stipend.

Responsibilities include:

  • Live Event Production
    • Assist in the production of our NYC Mainstage, StorySLAM and GrandSLAM live events
      • Assist in approximately two to four NYC events per month.
    • Prepare and transport all StorySLAM materials and pack the production kit prior to each event.
    • Upload and organize all post-production materials for our CRM database and filing system
    • At the culmination of your internship, produce a NYC StorySLAM!
  • Production and general administration
    • Proof and assist in the production of promotional emails,website entries, event programs, and ticketing links.
    • Research further promotional outlets for all live productions, as assigned
    • Research potential venues in new and existing StorySLAM Markets 
    • Support the office with managing phones, The Moth’s info account, and administrative tasks as needed 
    • Other research projects, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A love of The Moth’s work and mission
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel; ability to learn CRM Database system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organization and administrative skills
  • Ability to switch between independent and collaborative work
  • Creative, self-sufficient, and proactive thinker; detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector and/or the arts preferred
  • Ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods as necessary.
