POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Freelance Social Media Coordinator, you’ll ideate, plan, design, deploy and track social media content that supports the organization’s strategic goals and mission across all social platforms including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
This position will work across the organization to ensure The Moth’s live shows, podcasts, radio broadcast, storytelling workshops, memberships, books, brand partnerships and merchandise offerings engage audiences, drive social growth and positively impact revenue while bringing true stories to people all around the world.
The Freelance Social Media Coordinator will report to the Director of Marketing (DOM).
Be The Moth’s voice on social media and other digital channels and exercise impeccable judgment as The Moth’s representative with a focus on building and fostering a community rooted in empathy, understanding, trust and connection
Work with the DOM to plan the social media content calendar (paid and organic) across multiple social media channels with an eye for juggling varied projects and objectives
Be plugged into The Moth’s social media channels to ensure that comments and/or negative sentiment are appropriately managed and add value to the user's experience
Establish and maintain relationships with Moth storytellers, story directors, hosts, producers and staff across the country to identify and develop content ideas and opportunities that elevate the organization’s mission
Be the brand’s eyes and ears for new/emerging social media trends and best-practices allowing true stories to be amplified in unique and unexpected ways
Analyze and report on social growth and campaign effectiveness to optimize current/active campaigns and provide recommendations for future campaigns and initiatives. Create monthly social media reports for senior leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
1-3+ years of related work experience, with direct experience handling social media across multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
Data-driven, digital-first approach with experience tracking social analytics and translating results into to campaign reports
Strong writing and copy editing skills
Entrepreneurial spirited and a self-starter; able to work both independently and in a team environment
Highly conscious of risk and the responsibility of being a steward of the brand's reputation
Project management skills with an ability to accurately prioritize delivery of existing projects while concurrently planning future projects
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), Adobe, Google Analytics, AdWord
Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, InDesign, After Effects, Photoshop and other editing software

Creativity: You will develop a deep understanding of our brand and recommend creative content to build a following, raise awareness of the organization’s cause, deepen relationships and support lead generation
Writing: You can deliver copy that is both informative and interesting to read, adjusting the tone according to channel best practices while staying true to our brand
Teamwork: You thrive on owning projects with minimal management but also know that collaboration and input are key
Project management: The list of projects can be long, each with many details to track. But you’re ready to tackle them head on
Delivering excellence: You care deeply about quality and strive to ensure every deliverable is something you’re proud of
