MaMaw’s Cornbread Recipe

• 1 cup buttermilk 
• 1 cup Martha White self rising white corn meal (if Martha White can’t make it rise nobody can)
• 1 egg (I prefer brown)
• 2 tablespoons Mazola Corn Oil

 (MaMaw used bacon grease but I switched to Mazola after Daddy had the heart attack scare)

Put one tablespoon of oil in the bottom of your cast iron skillet and put it into a 400 degree oven until it is screaming hot!

Meanwhile stir up well all your other ingredients.

Once the skillet is hot carefully pour your batter into it.

Once the kitchen starts to smell like cornbread wait 5 minutes and then pull it out of the oven.

With a spatula carefully flip over the bread as to brown the top.

Slice into wedges and enjoy!
