The Moth and CUNY: Young Women’s Voices Festival

The Moth and CUNY: Young Women’s Voices Festival is a day-long Moth storytelling workshop sponsored by the Kate Spade & Company Foundation. Join us in an inspiring space to share your own story with new friends and potential colleagues, while learning about how you can use stories in career and entrepreneurial spaces.

“Telling my story reminded me of the kind of person I am, and the kind of person I am striving to become. ”
— CUNY Participant —

Who can apply?

The Young Women’s Voices Festival is an inclusive space for all women. We welcome cis-gendered women, trans women, genderqueer women, and non-binary people who are currently enrolled in one of CUNY’s 24 colleges or graduate schools.

What’s happening?

Over the course of the day, participants will learn principles of Moth storytelling, brainstorm stories of their own and share those stories with one another.

After a networking lunch, we’ll explore the professional applications for storytelling - from stories for cover letters and interviews, to finding a personal career path you can love.

At the end of the workshop, we’ll celebrate with a StorySLAM -- a chance to share the stories we’ve been working on! Up to ten students will have the chance to share their story onstage with peers, friends and Moth fans. (This part is optional, but a lot of fun…)

When is the next festival?

The next festival will be held in Fall 2018.
