Primah Kwagala

Ms. Primah Kwagala is a human rights lawyer and Founding Director of the Women’s Probono Initiative (WPI), an organization she founded to provide access to justice for vulnerable women and girls who cannot otherwise afford it in Uganda. Primah honed her legal and human rights skills at the Universities of Makerere Uganda; Columbia in the USA; Pretoria in South Africa, and has a Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Center in Kampala. Primah represents women suffering violence and abuse. In 2019 she led groundbreaking work in the area of human trafficking, helping a family retrieve the body of their daughter who had been trafficked to the Middle East as a domestic worker. Ms. Kwagala is the 2020 recipient of the French and German Élysée Treaty Peace and Reconciliation Award.
