Digital Marketing Manager

The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for creating, executing and managing marketing strategies to raise brand awareness, drive audience, and revenue growth across The Moth’s live shows, podcast, broadcast, storytelling workshops, membership, publishing, brand partnership and merchandise programs. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with the DOM to design, execute and track strategic and creative marketing plans that support company goals across live/virtual events, podcast, broadcast, brand partnership, publishing, membership, workshop programs and all Moth initiatives

  • Manage cross-departmental marketing programs and communications ensuring key stakeholders are up-to-day, timelines are met and KPIs are reached 

  • Assist the Manager, Brand Partnerships with the execution of partnership/sponsorship campaigns including creating timelines, digital content and client communications 

  • Plan and curate the social media calendar as well as create/deploy posts to sustain community growth, highlight diverse stories, increase follower engagement, drive membership sign ups and increase ticket sales 

  • Manage weekly email newsletter campaigns with an eye on driving audience growth in addition to open and click through rates

  • Build, monitor, analyze and optimize campaign performance across social, email, video and all O&O channels with a focus on revenue growth, audience engagement, audience growth and consistency of voice

  • Proactively track and identify brand-building ideas, providing new avenues of visibility and reach with a focus on driving audience and revenue growth 

  • Assist the DOM in planning and managing The Moth’s merchandise strategy

  • Regularly engage new and existing influencers to expand audience reach and drive relevance

  • Liaise with The Moth’s digital marketing agency on GoogleGrants, paid social and SEO campaigns

  • Work with the Digital Marketing Coordinator to create on-brand graphics and promotions 

  • Have a strong and deep understanding of social media, digital platforms, and emerging tech/video platforms

  • Manage Marketing interns when needed, delegating departmental tasks and quality checking work

  • Creativity: You will develop a deep understanding of our brand and recommend creative content and ad campaigns to build a following, raise awareness of the organization’s cause, deepen relationships and support lead generation 

  • Writing: You can deliver copy that is both informative and interesting to read, adjusting the tone according to channel best practices while staying true to our brand

  • Teamwork: You thrive on owning projects with minimal management but also know that collaboration and input are key

  • Project management: The list of projects can be long, each with many details to track. But you’re no stranger to that

  • Reporting and analytics: You’re fluent in social media metrics and how to synthesize them into insights and patterns

  • Delivering excellence: You care deeply about quality and strive to ensure every deliverable is something you’re proud of.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 - 5+ years marketing expertise with direct client-facing experience

  • 3+ years of paid social and email marketing experience, preferably with Mailchimp, Facebook/Instagram and Google certification

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, InDesign, After Effects, Photoshop and other editing software 

  • Strong organizational skills and proven program management experience covering multiple projects and diverse goals

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data

  • Entrepreneurial spirited and a self-starter; able to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment helping bring structure and delivering results

  • Outstanding writing, presentation and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), Adobe, Google Analytics, AdWords
