The position is primarily remote but will need to be available for some in-person events. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Moth Education Program works with young people and educators to build community through storytelling workshops, performances and innovative resources.

The Moth is looking to fortify its Education Programs with an Assistant Producer & Coordinator, EDU. This person will have a strong interest in youth focused and educational programs, with experience in production and events coordination.


The ideal candidate has approximately 1-3 years full-time work experience, a passion for storytelling, and a commitment to holding spaces for the stories and voices of young people.

This is an entry-level position track to production and arts education management. 

The Assistant Producer & Coordinator will work under The Moth’s Sr. Manager of Education to support elevating the voices of program participants, through storytelling workshops and events at high schools, community based organizations, and The Moth headquarters.

They will develop and maintain systems related to SLAM productions including story selection, event production, archiving, social media promotion, and administration in a way that supports the overall mission and values of The Moth. With time and familiarity, the Assistant Producer and Coordinator will become a key contributor to the overall vision and strategy of the program.


Specifically, the role of Assistant Producer and Coordinator, will include
:

  • Coordinating and admin support for EDU programs
  • Producing EDU SLAMS, Showcases, GrandSLAMS
  • Archiving
  • Management of story review process
  • Hiring, training and management of program intern
  • Contributing to strategy and execution of Social Media
  • Managing related data on Basecamp, Airtable & Salesforce
  • Coordinating workshop and SLAM implementation
  • Scheduling events and coordinating/communicating logistics
  • Managing the hiring of crew, instructors and all other relevant personnel
  • Negotiating and finalize showcase contracts

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Airtable, Salesforce, Excel, Formstack, and other CRM a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere
  • Basic knowledge of HTML or web design
  • Experience with task management
  • Willingness to travel throughout New York City (potentially throughout the US)
  • Potentially work on evenings and weekends
  • Team player
