“It surprised me how close everyone got, despite our differences.”
Am I eligible to join?
If you live in any borough of NYC and are in grades 10-12, you are eligible! The only other thing you’ll need is to find a teacher at your school who can “nominate” you and be your advisor. This just means they’ll check in with you at school- they won’t need to come with you to workshops.
When are the workshops?
Our first Spring 2017 workshops will be Saturdays in February and March, and our next round will be in April and May. Exact dates are to be announced. To apply, fill out our application.
Wait. What if I’m not “dramatic” or a “poet?”
Not a problem. The great thing about storytelling, actually, is that there’s no right way to be or perform– it’s just about being yourself. If you’re quiet and shy, you can tell a quiet/shy story. If you like doing imitations when you tell your stories, do those.
What is a Moth story?
A Moth story is a true personal story that you tell live to an audience, without notes. It can be about anything that has happened in your life– big or small, as long as it mattered to you or changed you in some way. It’s usually about 5 or 6 minutes long.
Where will All City SLAM Team meet, and how will I get there?
We’ll meet at the Moffice (known as the Office), at 75 Broad Street, in the Financial District. We’ll give you a Metrocard so that you can make it every week.
Will there be snacks?
Yes. Lots of them. Every time.
How do I apply?
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for spring. **APPLY NOW** The next All City SLAM workshop session starts in February 2017.
I have more questions. Who can I ask?
