COMMUNITY PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Moth Community Program provides the space, tools and expertise for people to practice the art and
craft of personal storytelling. We partner with nonprofits - community-based organizations, cultural institutions, foundations, and government agencies - to host workshops that inspire confidence and self-reflection and deepen connections within and between communities. Position Overview: Manager, Community Engagement
Contribute to the overall management & vision of the Community Engagement (CE) Program

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager and in cooperation with the EDU team:

  •  Sets long-term strategy for hiring, developing and retaining instructor talent
  • Designs and implements a comprehensive training and continuing professional development program for the instructor community
  • Helps set the vision for the future of the program

Develop and retain instructor talent

  • Work closely with The Moth’s Education Program to hire, train and develop a network of freelance instructors and integrate the instructors into the Moth staff.
  • Observe workshops and attend shares/slams as necessary and feasible to maintain perspective on the needs of the programs and to assess instructors and curriculum.
  • Along with the Manager of the Education Program, lead a team of stakeholders in the design and implementation of a robust instructor evaluation and support program.
  •  Manages the process of staffing instructors at upcoming CE workshops
  • Supports and supervises instructors in the field during CE workshops and residencies via basecamp check-ins, observations, feedback sessions, lesson planning support etc.
  • Plans, facilitates (or hires facilitators) for instructor trainings, PD workshops and meet-ups
  • Evaluates instructors and implements policies for maintaining program quality
  • Teaches within CE program, as needed

Contribute to ongoing Curriculum

  • Develops, revises and disseminates curricular resources, surveys, and materials to the community of Moth instructors
  • Designs and updates program models - incl. curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, & revision (w/ Sr. Manager)

Workshop Coordination

  •  Assists Sr. Manager with partner outreach & engagement, including executing social media planning
  • Plans workshops w/ partner organizations (calls, negotiations, MOUS)
  •  Manages instructor deployment and remuneration (LOAs, invoicing and reimbursement)
  • Along with Sr. Manager of CE, develops and maintains a system for workshop debriefs
  • Along with the entire CE team, review CE final share recordings and recommend stories for showcase and CE Review
  • Along with Archive Review team, review elevated CE stories and recommend for development, broadcast, and/or live events
  •  In collaboration with the CE and Creative teams, assists with teller outreach and gives story notes at rehearsal

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL

Required:

  • Minimum 7 years relevant, full-time work experience
  • 3+ years experience in group instruction and/or facilitation
  • 3+ years in designing curriculum and implementing lesson plans
  • Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills
  •  Ability to gather, track and synthesize information from a variety of sources
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from different cultural and educational settings
  • Deadline oriented: ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment 
  • Energized by teamwork
  • Ready to share ideas and fully consider the ideas of colleagues
  •  Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient or stronger at Excel
  • Must be willing to travel in the Greater New York area (approximately 10% of the job)


Desirable:

  • Computer skills: Salesforce and Air Table
  •  Experience using social media in a professional capacity

Salary: $77,000-$77,000/year. The salary range for this position is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, organization needs, and internal pay equity. This salary is a part of a competitive total rewards structure inclusive of medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous PTO, sick leave, and a retirement savings plan after one year of service.
