POSITION: Marketing Intern

LOCATION: New York, NY

DETAILS: 32 hrs/week 6-month Internship, $15/hour

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Under the direction of The Moth’s Marketing Department, the Marketing Intern assists with the overall promotion of The Moth’s mission, programs and events. The Marketing Intern will gain valuable experience helping to manage The Moth’s social media, press, research, partnerships, strategy, merchandise and graphic design executions. 

  • Assist in researching corporate sponsors - researching contacts, cold calling for appointments, etc. 

  • Assist Senior Manager, Brand Partnerships in co-managing select sponsor and partner relationships 

  • Attend Live Shows and events - capturing content for social media, helping Production/Events with check-in, etc. 

  • Attend weekly marketing department meetings - preparing agendas, taking notes and circulating recaps emails.

  • Researching local news/media partners to promote ticket sales for live shows and special events

  • Design marketing assets/graphics - social media posts, one sheets, printed collateral, etc. 

  • Stay up to date with news, trends, and best practices related to storytelling, podcasting, and content creation.

  • Develop a list of influencers and potential partners for collaborations who work in the world of podcasts, storytelling, interviews, and true stories. 

  • Assist with the production of video content for ads and social media evergreen content.

  • Regularly review library of storyteller imagery to identify dynamic images for Moth promotional materials.

  • Assist with overall research projects relating to social media, events and programs.

  • Collaborate in brainstorms for content for newsletters, marketing campaigns, and strategies for The Moth’s various departments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A love of The Moth’s mission of cultivating empathy and celebrating diversity through promoting true storytelling 

  • Proficiency in Google Drive - GoogleDocs, GoogleSlides, GoogleSheets etc. 

  • Knowledge in image and video editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud - InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Canva. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding and experience with social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok

  • Exceptional organization and administrative skills and the ability to navigate that work on software such as Airtable

  • Ability to switch between independent and collaborative work

  • Creative, self-sufficient, and proactive thinker; detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in records management

  • Interest in learning video/audio editing as well as learning database software (SalesForce, AirTable of similar), a plus
